Why a vial has no fixed number of units
A unit measures liquid, not peptide. On the U-100 syringe most people use, 100 units is 1 mL, so one unit is 0.01 mL. The 10 mg of epithalon in the vial is a dry powder until you add bacteriostatic water, which is sterile water with a preservative so you can draw from one vial more than once. The volume of water you add sets the total number of units, and it also sets how strong each unit is.
That's why two people holding the same vial can quote different numbers and both be right. The milligrams stay at 10, and only the water changes. If you see a forum post that says a 10 mg vial is 100 units, it's describing a vial mixed with 1 mL, and if it says 200 units, it was mixed with 2 mL.
Units in a 10 mg vial of epithalon
| Water | Strength | Units in the vial | 5 mg dose | 10 mg dose |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 mL | 10 mg per mL | 100 units | 50 units | 100 units |
| 2 mL | 5 mg per mL | 200 units | 100 units | 200 units, over one syringe |
| 3 mL | 3.3 mg per mL | 300 units | 150 units, over one syringe | 300 units, over one syringe |
The math is units equal milliliters of water times 100. The 5 mg and 10 mg doses are the two ends of the range on our epithalon dosage page, which describes 5 to 10 mg once a day for a 10-day course. That range comes from peptide education pages and vendor sites, and no dose-finding study sets it. "Over one syringe" means the draw is more than the 100 units a 1 mL syringe holds.
What it changes for your dosage
A 10 mg dose from a 10 mg vial takes the whole vial, so only 1 mL of water keeps that draw to a single syringe. A 5 mg dose fits one syringe with 1 or 2 mL of water. A 10 mg vial lasts 2 days at 5 mg a day and 1 day at 10 mg a day, so a full 10-day course takes 5 to 10 of them.
If you're deciding how much water to add in the first place, how much bacteriostatic water for a 10 mg epithalon vial covers that choice. For any other vial size, the reconstitution calculator does the same math, and the epithalon page has the background and live prices.
It's sold for research, and the big human trials haven't been run yet. You knew that, it's why you're reading this and not the label.
Questions people ask
How many units is 5 mg of epithalon?
In a 10 mg vial it's half the liquid. That's 50 units with 1 mL of water, 100 units with 2 mL and 150 units with 3 mL.
How many units is 10 mg of epithalon?
In a 10 mg vial it's the whole vial: 100 units with 1 mL of water and 200 with 2 mL. Anything over 100 units is more than a 1 mL syringe holds.
Is one unit the same as one milligram?
No. A unit on a U-100 syringe is 0.01 mL of liquid. How many milligrams that is depends on how much water went into the vial.
How long does a 10 mg vial of epithalon last?
Two days at 5 mg a day and one day at 10 mg a day, which is well inside the 28 days a mixed vial keeps in the fridge.
Do the units change for a 20 mg vial of epithalon?
Yes, because the same water holds twice the milligrams. With 2 mL in a 20 mg vial, 5 mg is 50 units and 10 mg is 100 units.
